Photo Reflection of the Day #6: Black in Winter

What Is It

Dead flowers with a snowy background at North Shore Community College.

Why It's Today's Pick

I liked the contrast of the black flower heads with the white snow and the beige stems.  It's all bleak, but the black felt rather vibrant in the drab landscape of decay.  I also like the chaotic nature of the stems with some straight up and down and others curve and arched.  The snow seems fragile as it is so small (a mere dusting) and doesn't seem as overpowering as the black flower heads, even though at this time of year, the snow could easily bury the flower heads.
